Mind Over Machines Analyzes Weather System for Aberdeen Proving
Ground BALTIMORE, MD – April 24, 2006 - Mind Over Machines, Inc., an information technology solutions provider to government and commercial accounts, announced today that its technical team is in the implementation stage of the comprehensive plan it designed for Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) that calls for consolidating previously disparate weather databases into one central system. The databases are extensively used by scientists for meteorological reporting and forecasting in support of ordnance testing activities. Aberdeen Proving Ground is the Army’s oldest active proving ground, providing the military with a facility where design and testing of ordnance materials can be carried out in close proximity to the nation’s industrial and shipping centers. All tanks and wheeled vehicles that have served the U.S. forces for the past 50 years have been tested for performance and durability at APG. The Company provided strategic IT consulting to the APG Atmospheric Effects Team as part of the project to analyze the features and functionality of two data warehouses of weather-related information in order to recommend a new, enhanced data store that leverages the best of both systems. Each previous system provided unique capabilities for searching, displaying and providing reports on the data yet each had some inherent limitations due to technology available at the time of initial development. Now, Mind Over Machines is implementing a single, central data repository that combines all the information related to atmospheric conditions such as temperature, wind speed and direction, humidity, barometric pressure, precipitation and other weather variables that are specific to the APG geographic location. The new system utilizes such current technologies as .NET, SQL Server 2000, and ASP.NET. Further, the Company is developing a series of web-based reports for viewing the data in real-time. These reports reflect changing weather conditions in intervals of 15 minutes, 1 hour and 24 hours. The APG scientists, meteorologists and forecasters rely on this information as an essential research source for analytic reports they prepare on materials undergoing testing programs as well as for other APG-related missions. "We are proud to have been chosen to provide our technology expertise to assist this well-recognized Maryland-based government institution evaluate their technology infrastructure,” said Ron Monford, President and CEO, Mind Over Machines. “Our team conducted on-site assessments and closely communicated with APG experts to identify opportunities for workflow enhancements that will ensure 21st century efficiency and security." . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
